“Jason Becker, Not Dead Yet” Documentary

Not Dead YetWhen doctors diagnosed 19-year-old rock star Jason Becker with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, they said he would never make music again and that he wouldn’t live to see his 25th birthday. 22 years later, without the ability to move or to speak, Jason is alive and making music with his eyes.

“Jason Becker : Not Dead Yet” is a feature-length documentary film that tells the incredible story of a guitar legend who refuses to give up on his dream of being a musician despite the most incredible odds. It is a story of dreams, love, and the strength of the human spirit.

The film has been made with the full co-operation of Jason and the Becker family, who have given their consent for this to be the first feature-length documentary film about his life. They have provided their entire family archive of never-before-seen photos and footage.

Just wanted to say thank you for the doc that you, your family and friends did. It was moving. It made a difference in my life. You see, I lost my twin brother 15 years ago next week and that is when I quit playing. We played for thirty years until he passed away. Now I feel compelled to pick up again. Thanks for what you do.

Jason, you’re an inspiration to many. As a guitar player myself, my life changed when I got cancer in ’03. I beat it and it returned in 2010. The Oncology Doctor gave me 3 years. Doctors may think they know the disease, but they don’t know the spirit. Know that I am praying for you, you’re awesome, and never give up! Believe my friend!

  15. Paul Camilleri says:

Jason, I was born only a couple of months before you. I found metal in the mid to late eighties. To me you personified metal. The cool look, the brilliant talent. Music (especially metal) is still a massive part of my life. I only heard of your situation this morning. I am still in shock. The music you are making now is beautiful. Please do not stop. Peace to you, your family & your friends. All exceptional people.

You truly are an inspiration to many people My favorite players are Michael Sweet, Oz Fox, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and You and Marty of course. Looking forward to new music, Love and respect

  20. Caleb Warren says:

    Mr. Becker,
I want to thank you for being such an inspiration on me (and many others) in not only music, but in life. To be stricken with the horror of ALS, only to defy all odds and continue doing what you love for almost 30 years, you are a hero. The bravest, strongest person I know of. To be claimed a great musician is an understatement, Jason you are the greatest guitarist to walk the earth. I admire you as a musician and as a person, and I can not thank you enough. You have my full respect.
    Thank you, Jason.
